Hoy es el día del libro. Como Cervantes y Shakespeare acaparan todo el protagonismo, voy a poner algo del socarrón del Twain.

No hace mucho descubrí un pequeño ensayito suyo en el que bromea con la forma de mejorar el lenguaje inglés. El texto ha sido versioneado y copiado a diferentes lenguas y contextos, pero el original conserva el tremendo mérito de haberse anticipado, en más o menos un siglo a la degeneración actual del lenguaje popular provocada por, entre otras cosas, el uso de los SMS y los chat.

Como comprenderán, yo no soy capaz de traducir semejante cosa con éxito, así que sólo pondré la versión original en inglés:

"For example, in Year 1 that useless letter "c" would be dropped to be replased either by "k" or "s", and likewise "x" would no longer be part of the alphabet.
